Let me tell you a story.

It’s not about funding rounds or billion-dollar valuations.
It’s about chai, conversations, and a crazy idea that turned into a global movement.

What is eChai?

eChai is not a company. Not a startup accelerator. It’s a vibe.
It’s where you walk in with a half-baked idea and walk out with five new friends, two potential collaborators, and the energy to build again.

Started in Ahmedabad, eChai is now in 25+ global cities and 20+ countries — but it still feels like that same chai-kitli conversation opposite Gujarat Vidyapith where it all began.

Why eChai? (Why do founders show up?)

Because no one’s trying to sell you anything. There’s no panel of judges. No fancy stage.
You just share your journey — wins, fails, doubts — and others nod, laugh, add their own stories.
It’s like group therapy for founders. Except it’s free. And more fun.

And that’s the magic — it’s for founders, by founders. No gatekeeping. No bias. No ‘you’re too early’. Everyone’s welcome.

My Journey with eChai

I still remember my first meeting with Jatin bhai at CIIE, IIM Ahmedabad(Now known as IIMA Ventures) as our startup was incubated there.

We have a nice conversation and subsequently I started visiting eChai meetups.

In the first meetup I didn’t know what to expect. Just walked in, grabbed a chair, and listened. No suits. No slides. Just real people talking about real problems. I met a lot of amazing founders, friends and investors. Also attracted clients towards my business.

When I came back to my hometown (Udaipur) I got a chance to host my first eChai meetup. That meetup was a powerful housefull meetup and since then I've been hosting eChai meetups and contributing to this mission of making the world's largest open startup network. I've hosted the meetups in many cities and learned a lot in this journey and made strong connections.

And every time, I leave with something new — a perspective, a connection, a reminder that I’m not alone in this crazy startup world.

Jatin Choudhary

The Man Behind It: Jatin Choudhary

Jatin didn’t start eChai to make money. In his words — “Bhai paisa nai kamaiye to chali jashe.” His goal was simple: bring people together, make them competent, and help each other grow.

He comes from a chawl in Ahmedabad. No fancy background. No MBA. Just a guy who believed in conversations and community. He used to work in a BPO Company at Udaipur, selling long-distance services. That’s where he built his skills. And one day, he decided — let’s do something different.

For the first 3 years, he didn’t earn a single penny from eChai. No funding. No sponsors. Just chai and hustle. And now? People in New York, Toronto, Dubai, Singapore, Melbourne — they all meet under the eChai banner.

Crazy, right?

What’s in it for you?
If you’re a founder — come.
If you’re just starting — definitely come.
If you’re stuck — especially come.

You’ll meet people who’ve been there. Who’ve messed up. Who’ve figured it out.
You’ll get feedback. Honest ones. Not the LinkedIn-flavored ones.

You’ll thank me later.
